This two-day course is designed for those who supervise, run, or direct
construction site operations, grading work, culvert replacement work, and
bridge construction work. This course will cover permit requirements, roles
and responsibilities, example specifications, how to use a SWPPP, and best
management practices to reduce or control erosion and sedimentation. Other
topics include soil erodibility, turf establishment techniques, grading
techniques to minimize erosion, timing of installations, and proper installation
of best management practices. Also covered will be implementation of the
erosion and sediment control plan, requirements of various regulatory agencies,
and consequences of permit violations. This course is taught entirely in
the classroom. (12 PDH)
Who should attend:
•Personnel acting as project engineers, project supervisors, and chief
inspectors on projects disturbing more than one acre of land. Note: Mn/DOT
Standard Specifications require a minimum of one certified individual per
project.
•Personnel (superintendent/foreman) in charge of construction disturbing
more than one acre of land and construction personnel in charge of grading
activities, bridge and culvert activities over rivers and streams, turf
establishment/seeding contractor, utility contractors, bridge construction
personnel directing river pier construction, channel work, approach embankment
construction, riprap placement, and related construction activities over
rivers and streams. Contractor personnel assigned to conduct NPDES sites
inspections and fill out NPDES weekly log. Note: Mn/DOT Standard Specifications
require a minimum of one certified individual for each type of work, i.e.
grading, bridge construction, turf establishment, culvert replacement, and
utility construction.
