Prospective attendees must register online. A laminated pocketbook guide will be sent to each attendee via U.S. Mail. Course participants may complete the first two sections of the online course prior to receiving the pocketbook guide. It is recommended that the remaining sections of the online course be completed upon receipt of the pocketbook guide.
In order to earn certification, the attendee must complete the course online by May 1, 2020 and must receive a score of 70% or above on the online exam.
Browser and Software Requirements
You will need a computer with an updated web browser and reliable broadband internet connection (DSL or faster).
Supported Browsers: Canvas runs on Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android, or any other device with a modern web browser. Canvas supports the last two versions of every browser release. We highly recommend updating to the newest version of whatever browser you are using as well as the most up-to-date Flash plug-in.
This online course is designed for those who install erosion and sediment control devices and establish vegetation on construction sites. The emphasis is on permit regulations pertaining to laborer activities and proper installation and quality control of various erosion and sediment control devices and turf establishment items. Other topics include an overview of pertinent inspection procedures. This course is taught online. This class is also appropriate for those inspecting construction sites for assurance of installation quality. (6 PDH)
Who should attend:
- Owners' representative personnel inspecting seeding, mulching, silt fence placement, topsoil placement, erosion control blanket installation, riprap placement, silt curtain, inlet protection, culvert installations in water bodies and embankment construction near rivers, lakes, and streams.
- Crew supervisor of turf establishment/seeding contractor and other construction personnel installing temporary erosion and sediment control devices. Note: Mn/DOT Standard Specifications require a minimum of one certified individual per project.
